Josephine Fedrick Hill

 “A Past to Cherish”


Ms. Josephine Fedrick Hill is the oldest of 12 siblings. She graduated in the top 10% of her class in 1960 from Albany State College with a degree in Elementary Education. With her degree she taught in Atlanta Public Schools. During which she was awarded Teacher of the Year for 2 years.


Ms. Josephine is a member of the Albany State University Hall of Fame, a Life member of the ASUNAA and a dedicated member of The Griffin-Crescent Alumni Chapter for over 20 years. We salute her service and unwavering support.

Staria “Star” Carteri

“A Future to Fulfill”

Staria "Star" Carter attended Albany State College in 1994 "the year of the flood". She helped to charter ASU's 1st HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Campus Chapter Organization. Staria, along with others, petitioned Albany State University to have a Fall graduating class. Due to their hard work and advocacy, she graduated in 1998, a member of the FIRST FALL graduating class of Albany State with a BA in Sociology.


Staria "Star" Carter continues to serve Albany State University by being an active and proud member of The Griffin-Crescent Alumni Chapter of Albany State University. Currently, she serves as chairperson of the Communication Committee. Under her leadership, the committee has increased the chapter's social media presence, and fundraising activities. Resulting in an increase in chapter membership. Griffin-Crescent Alumni Chapter appreciates all her hard work and dedication.

Ollie Smith

Seasoned Alumni

“A Past to Cherish”

Ollie Smith is a native of Dublin, GA. She graduated from Albany State College in 1952 with a degree in Elementary Education. She is married to Mr. Bryant Smith, and the mother of 6 children and 4 grandchildren. She is a member of Sandy Ford Baptist Church.


In 1986, She retired from Flint Community School System, in Flint Michigan after 29 years of service. She has been involved with the Alumni Chapter since returning to Dublin in 1992.


When asked what advice she has for future alumni she replied, “Don’t ever forget your alma mater, do whatever you can to support and encourage the younger generation to become involved so that, they can in the future encourage the next generation.”

Kenayana Thomas

Young Alumni

“A Future to Fulfill”

Kenayana Thomas is s a native of Albany, GA.


In 2018 She graduated from Albany State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She also has a Master’s degree in Applied Physical Sciences and is currently working on a Master’s of Arts in Teaching.


She is a member of Saint Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.


Currently she is serving as a teacher for Dublin City Schools and Coaches the Dublin High School Varsity Basketball Cheerleading Squad. In her free time, she likes to go shopping, spend time with my family and friends, and travel the world.

The Albany State University Alumni Association is a Corporation, a legally recognized organization under the laws of the State of Georgia. The Association is classified as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization formed solely for philanthropic purposes.
